Loki: Why does Sylvie want to kill Victor Timely?

In the third episode of Loki Season 2, we are introduced to Victor Timely, a variant of Kang. Unlike the Kang we met in previous Marvel movies, Victor is portrayed as a timid and unassuming character. He makes his living as a con man, swindling others with his creations. Loki and Mobius, on a mission to capture him and get his temporal aura scanned, encounter Sylvie, who is determined to kill all Kang variants, including Victor. However, Sylvie realizes that Victor is not the same as the previous Kang variants and decides to let Loki and Mobius handle him.The introduction of Victor Timely brings a new twist to the storyline of Loki Season 2. Played by Jonathan Majors, this character is a departure from the conniving and domineering Kang we have seen before. Victor is depicted as a human with quirks and imperfections, making him relatable and sympathetic. This variation in personalities among Kang variants emphasizes the diversity and complexity of these characters.Another significant development in this episode is the revelation of Miss Minutes' true motives and emotions. Originally created as a chess AI, Miss Minutes has developed feelings for He Who Remains and is possessive of him. Her pettiness and jealousy towards Ravonna, displayed when she interacts with Victor alone, add depth and intrigue to her character. Miss Minutes' connection to He Who Remains and her knowledge of his secrets make her a pivotal figure in the season's unfolding story. The episode takes us back to 1893 in Chicago during the World Fair, adding historical richness to the narrative. The attention to detail in the production design, costumes, and setting immerses viewers in the past. This episode marks a return to what made the first season of Loki enjoyable, with its blend of time-travel elements and engaging storytelling. As the episode progresses, tensions rise as Sylvie confronts Victor with the intention of killing him. However, she ultimately decides against it, recognizing that he is not the same threat as previous Kang variants. This decision showcases Sylvie's complex moral compass and her desire to uphold her mission to eliminate Kang variants while also realizing that not all variants are inherently evil. The episode ends with a confrontation at Victor's lab. Sylvie allows Loki and Mobius to take Victor into custody, while she banishes Ravonna to the End of Time. This twist sets up a new dynamic as Ravonna learns of a secret that Kang has been keeping about her. With Victor now in the custody of the TVA, the possibilities for the future of the show are wide open. It remains to be seen how exposure to advanced technology and the TVA's influence will affect Victor.Overall, Episode 3 of Loki Season 2 fills in some gaps in the storyline and brings back the elements that made the first season enjoyable. The introduction of Victor Timely as a variant of Kang adds complexity to the narrative, showcasing the different facets and potential for corruption within Kang variants. Additionally, the revelation of Miss Minutes' motivations and emotions adds a layer of intrigue to her character. The episode's historical setting and attention to detail contribute to its overall entertainment value. With the stage set for further developments, the future of the show promises to be exciting and unpredictable.
